June 20, 2026 – Attending midwife birth

Your mama had been having contractions on and off for a week already before your birthday, and the feeling that we would no longer need the check-up on your due date. But we saw each other at Triemli on that very date. Everything looked tipptopp, and your parents were able to go to the Badi once more with your big brother. Your parents’ new tip for your birthday was Midsummer Night – and they were to be right.

Two days later we saw each other again. After your mama had been having contractions on and off all day, and they became more regular and more intense while you were still at the playground with your brother, we met in the evening at Triemli. I was so very much looking forward to your birth, and the bathtub was already ready for your mama.

Once in the water, your mama first still had to arrive a little and was still looking for the right position. Your papa was always supportively by her side – with refreshments and massages. After a while, calm returned and your birth moved forward; the waves grew stronger. Shortly after 11 pm, your mama had the feeling that her waters had broken. It took a little while longer until the waters actually opened, and then I knew it would not be long before you would come into the world.

For your mama, it almost felt a little too fast for a moment – and then you were already there. I first had to unwrap you from your umbilical cord before your mama could marvel at you in your papa’s arms in the water. Very calm and content, you floated in the water and opened your eyes for the first time. As she wished, your mama was allowed to admire you in peace for a little while, until she was ready to take you into her arms and onto her chest. Once there, it did not take long until you had found the breast all by yourself and were already drinking from it with endurance.

Welcome to the world, you wonderful new little human! I wish you and your family all the very best. Thank you for allowing me to be there at your birth.
