How wonderful that you have a name made of the same letters as mine. I was so happy when your mama reached out to me for birth support.
There was a little up and down during a pregnancy check-up when I told you that I would be away a few days before your due date. But somehow I had the trust that you would choose the right moment for yourself.
And so it came to pass that one morning at 5 o’clock my phone rang. Outside, the birds were already singing. It was a beautiful, summery day at the end of May. Your parents told me that the waters had broken and the contractions kept coming. They would now travel toward Zurich before the morning traffic, settle into Mama’s old shared apartment, and see how everything developed.
I thought that was a good idea and came by to see you in the morning. Everything still pointed to the early phase of labor. So I gave your parents a few tips, listened to your heartbeat, and made my way back through Zurich traffic to a few postpartum visits.
We arranged to meet at half past twelve. Just as I was walking out of a house at noon, your papa called me. The waves were now very intense and coming frequently. I immediately made my way back to you.
When I came into the stairwell, I could already hear your mama breathing through her powerful birth waves. For a moment I thought that you might want to come into the world right here. Your mama was lying in the bathtub but longed for more space and freedom of movement in the water. So we packed you up and drove at top speed to Triemli Hospital.
Once we arrived there, we ran a bath for you. A short time later, I already sensed that you were very close to the final stretch. Your mama was incredibly impressive throughout, despite the very frequent and intense waves. With great strength, devotion, and trust, she brought you into the world.
Your papa was overwhelmed and overjoyed to see you healthy and lively in your mama’s arms. Tears of joy came to all our eyes.
